Yes, believe it or not, there are grants and organizations who want to pay for quality educational programming for schools - especially when it comes to motivating children to read and especially for The "I Love to Read" Program!
Of course, getting external funding is more difficult than being able to invest in an assembly program using your own funds, but with a little effort and our help, you could bring The "I Love to Read" Program to your school for free!
We at Keith and Company are working hard to establish new relationships with funding organizations as well as to provide you with tools and tips to make external funding as simple as we can! |

"If your club is looking for an affordable, easy-to-do, yet rewarding literacy project, I highly recommend that you contact Keith Haddrill. Keith combines humor, puppets, and ventriloquism in his programs.
"When we approached the school's principal and offered to participate in a Literacy Project, the first thing she requested was Keith's program. She had seen it previously and wanted to provide the program for her students.
"We sponsored four presentations of Keith's "I Love to Read" Assembly Program for our partner school, Franklin Elementary, in Jacksonville, IL, and we were very happy we did so!
"Keith has an amazing rapport with the kids, and his show is tremendous! The kids are very entertained, and they hear a great message on the power of reading. Keith can even change his presentation to connect with each grade level. Every Rotarian in attendance was very impressed, including our District Governor.
"We have since sponsored Keith to come to our public library and are looking for other ways to have him motivate the students in our community. In addition, he created a presentation for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
"Even though Keith's fees are very reasonable, many of our schools are suffering from extreme budget shortfalls and can no longer afford to have their students hear Keith's powerful message. I urge you to consider sponsoring some "I Love to Read" presentations for the schools in your area. As our District Governor said, "This is a project waiting to happen for our clubs."
Sincerely,
Phyllis Lape

Pros
Many groups actively look for projects to fund and for which to provide services as long as such projects fit their organizational goals
What seems "out-of-our-budget" to schools and libraries seems "very reasonable" to businesses and service organizations
Once you establish a relationship with a sponsoring group, future funding can be a phone call away
Let your students enjoy The "I Love to Read" Assembly Program for free or for half the price (depending on the sponsor)
We help you as much as we can
Who knows what a new partner in education could lead to? |
Cons
Some extra effort is required to make contact and to work with a service organization or company
Their grant process can take several weeks or even months before a check is issued
Many sponsors will want to provide handouts to send home with your students as well as articles in the school or district newsletter
All organizations have policies and procedures
It is possible to put forth time and effort to seek a sponsorship or grant and not get the funds you seek |
There are many many more organizations who could provide at least partial funding to bring The "I Love to Read" Program to your school. Churches, local businesses, major corporations - working together, we are limited only by our imaginations.
If your school needs financial help to bring Keith and Company to your school, please call us and we will work with you to find a sponsor.
