What are the sounds of children learning?
It's laughter, applause, and the silence of total attention.
Keith Haddrill, creator and star of The "I Love to Read" Assembly Program, has an amazing ability to captivate children through
his unique blend of comedy, magic, audience participation, and
award-winning ventriloquism.
You will envy his rapport with children
as he interacts with your students.
Best of all, throughout his very entertaining show, your students will learn
about the power of reading.
Why is reading so important?
When you motivate kids to read, you motivate them to learn.
Once they are bitten by the reading bug, entire new worlds open
up to them!
"Children
who are avid readers do better in all subjects in school - not
just in English. They concentrate better. They are better able
to process new information without visual images, and they develop
a better understanding of how other people think and feel."
- Mary Leonhardt, author of
Parents
Who Love Reading, Kids Who Don't
In these times of low test scores, short attention spans, playground
violence, and boredom leading to drugs and other anti-social behavior,
getting kids to spend their time reading books is critical, not
only to each child's future, but to the future of our communities.
How do you get them to turn off the
TV and read a book?
"I use one of the fundamentals of human motivation. I show the kids what's in it for them."
- Keith Haddrill, Creator & star of The "I Love to Read" Assembly Program
The "I Love
to Read" Assembly Program focuses on the power of reading. The first point
Keith makes is that there is no school that you can go to in order
to learn ventriloquism. Keith learned by reading books. Before
long, almost every student raises their hand to tell Keith
what they'd like to read about! Keith also shows them how to fit reading into every day and
still have time for TV, play, homework, and of course, trading
cards about Japanese critters. In fact, to see scenes and descriptions
of all of the show's content, go to the next page. |
